Order in the Court

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Seems like the Beijing High People's Court isn't getting enough of it.  Why?

"Many final judgments were not enforced due to regional and departmental interests, which has become a headache for the judicial system..."  This answer is a little vague because I'm not sure how to interpret "regional and departmental interests."  What do you think that means?

The pessimist in me wants to scream bribery and corruption.

But the rest of the article gives me hope.  They are going to spend half a year trying to find out which rulings were not enforced and then enforcing them and, though it does not state it specifically, why.  Though the dirty, lying scoundrels in the world will never be completely stamped out, hopefully this measure will pull some of them out by the tail and expose them to the light.  And then in half a year another review of the success in the enforcementof the courts will be held.

The pessimist in me says that the same problems that caused non-enforcement will hinder a clean up of the system.

But there are good people out there that really do want justice.  Lets hope a couple of them are in on this panel and cheer them on.
